NASA Welcomes Croatia as 74th Signatory to Artemis Accords

Croatia became the 74th country to sign the Artemis Accords, joining the US-led framework for cooperation in space exploration, NASA announced following a signing ceremony held in the Croatian capital, Zagreb.

NASA officials and representatives from the US Department of State attended the ceremony marking Croatia's accession to the accords. NASA Deputy Matt Anderson said it was his privilege to welcome the Republic of Croatia as the newest signatory.

The Artemis Accords set out a set of principles for civil space exploration and use, including provisions on transparency, interoperability, emergency assistance, and the peaceful use of outer space, among other commitments signatory nations agree to uphold.

Since the accords were first established, dozens of countries have signed on, reflecting a broadening international coalition associated with NASA's Artemis program, which aims to return astronauts to the Moon and support future exploration efforts, including eventual missions to Mars.

NASA did not detail specific bilateral space cooperation projects planned with Croatia beyond the signing itself, though accession to the accords is typically viewed as a step toward deeper cooperation on future space initiatives.
