Palestinian Killed, Several Injured in West Bank Settler Attack During Olive Harvest

A 44-year-old Palestinian man died and several other people were injured after Israeli settlers attacked olive harvesters in the occupied West Bank, Al Jazeera reported.

The network's report did not specify the precise location of the attack or provide further detail on the injuries sustained by those wounded.

Violence linked to the olive harvest has recurred in parts of the West Bank in past years, as Palestinian farmers working groves near Israeli settlements have reported confrontations with settlers, including property damage, intimidation and physical assaults, particularly during the harvest season when access to the land draws farmers and their families out to the fields.

Al Jazeera's report did not say whether Israeli security forces had intervened during or after the incident, or whether any investigation had been launched. Rights organizations have previously said that investigations into settler violence against Palestinians frequently take a long time or do not result in prosecutions.

The attack comes amid a broader rise in West Bank violence that has coincided with the ongoing war in Gaza.
