Former Colorado forensic analyst sentenced to 10 years for DNA data manipulation
Yvonne 'Missy' Woods pleaded guilty to altering DNA evidence in hundreds of criminal cases involving homicide, sexual assault and robbery.
A judge sentenced Woods, a former analyst for the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, to 10 years in prison on Tuesday after she admitted to manipulating DNA data across multiple investigations. Woods pleaded guilty in June to perjury, attempting to influence a public servant, forgery and committing a cybercrime, according to authorities.
The data manipulation has raised questions about the validity of hundreds of criminal cases in which Woods' analysis was used, authorities said. Dozens of additional counts were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
