Afrique du Sud : l'activiste Kemi Seba mise sur le Niger pour éviter une extradition vers le Bénin
L'activiste béninois, détenu à Pretoria depuis près de six mois, fait face à une procédure d'extradition vers le Bénin, où il est recherché notamment pour soutien à une tentative de coup d'État.
L'activiste anti-occidental béninois Kemi Seba, de son vrai nom Stellio Gilles Robert Capo Chichi, était de retour devant le tribunal de Pretoria, en Afrique du Sud, selon RFI.
Il avait été arrêté il y a un peu moins de six mois lors d'une opération conjointe entre les autorités sud-africaines et Interpol. Depuis, il se trouve en détention en Afrique du Sud.
Une procédure d'extradition vers le Bénin a été engagée à son encontre. Il y est recherché, entre autres, pour soutien présumé à une tentative de coup d'État, selon le rapport.
Kemi Seba a déposé une demande d'asile en Afrique du Sud. Il mise désormais principalement sur l'aide du Niger pour tenter d'éviter son extradition vers le Bénin, selon RFI.
L'issue de la procédure judiciaire en cours à Pretoria déterminera si l'activiste sera finalement remis aux autorités béninoises ou s'il pourra rester en Afrique du Sud, voire obtenir un soutien d'un autre pays.
