US-Libya Drills in Tunisia Draw Attention Amid Russian Presence, DW Reports

The multinational Phoenix Express 2026 exercises concluded in Tunisia with the participation of 14 countries, according to Deutsche Welle's Arabic service.

DW reported that the drills highlighted field cooperation between the United States and Libya at a time when Russia's presence in Libya has been expanding. The outlet also noted that Algeria and Morocco took part together despite ongoing tension between the two North African neighbors.

DW framed the exercises as carrying two notable signals: closer US-Libya military engagement and the joint participation of Algeria and Morocco, which it said stood out given the strained relationship between the two governments.
