Ukraine's Security Service Says It Exposed FSB Agent Planning Attack on Drone Repair Unit

Ukraine's Security Service, known as the SSU, has said it exposed an agent working for Russia's FSB intelligence agency who was allegedly planning a strike on a Ukrainian drone repair unit.

According to the SSU, military counterintelligence officers, with the assistance of the commander-in-chief of Ukraine's Armed Forces, identified the agent operating within Ukrainian defense forces in the Kharkiv region. The agency said the individual had been recruited to gather intelligence that could be used to target the drone repair facility.

Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly reported uncovering Russian intelligence operations within their own military and civilian institutions since the start of the full-scale invasion, describing counterintelligence efforts as a continuous front in the broader war effort. Drone repair and production facilities have become increasingly important targets in the conflict, given the central role unmanned systems now play in both Russian and Ukrainian military operations.

The SSU did not disclose additional details about the individual's identity, the current status of the investigation, or what legal proceedings may follow the exposure of the alleged agent.

The case adds to a long list of similar operations Ukrainian security services have publicized throughout the war, as both sides continue to rely heavily on intelligence-gathering and sabotage operations alongside conventional fighting.
