Senegalese international footballer Sadio Mané laid, according to RFI, the foundation stone for an agro-industrial park dedicated to mango processing in Casamance, his native region in southern Senegal.
According to information reported by RFI, the footballer has invested nearly 12 billion CFA francs in the construction of this site, named SM10 Agro. The project is presented as aimed at contributing to the economic development of Casamance.
The agro-industrial park boasts an announced processing capacity of 8,500 tonnes of fruit per year, according to the same source. This capacity is described by the project's promoters as a major breakthrough for the region's mango sector.
SM10 Agro is thus presented, according to RFI, as an "industrial revolution" for Senegal's mango processing sector, an important agricultural sector for Casamance's regional economy.
Sadio Mané, originally from the Sédhiou region in Casamance, has previously undertaken multiple initiatives to support local development, particularly in the fields of health and education.
