Russia's Defense Ministry said Ukrainian forces lost nearly 1,400 troops in the past 24 hours in what Moscow refers to as its "special military operation," according to the Russian state news agency TASS.
The ministry said units of Russia's Battlegroup North took control of the settlements of Krasny Yar and Potikhonovo in the Kharkov region during the same period, TASS reported.
The figures and territorial claims were provided solely by the Russian Defense Ministry and have not been independently verified. Ukraine has consistently disputed Russian casualty figures throughout the war.
Fighting has continued along multiple sections of the front line in eastern and northeastern Ukraine, with both sides making competing claims about territorial gains and losses.
