Rostec Unveils Fully Domestically Produced Igla Small-Arms System

Russian state defense and technology conglomerate Rostec has introduced a new small-arms system called Igla, which the company says is manufactured entirely using domestically produced components.

According to Rostec, the system is designed to replace a number of foreign-made counterparts currently in use, reducing reliance on imported small arms and associated components.

The announcement is in line with a broader push within Russia's defense industry to localize the production of military equipment, a priority that has grown in recent years as the country has sought greater self-sufficiency in arms manufacturing.

Rostec did not immediately release further technical specifications or a timeline for deployment of the new system.
