Prosecutors open probe after video shows Carcassonne municipal police making racist remarks
French prosecutors opened an investigation after a video showed municipal police officers in Carcassonne making racist and misogynistic remarks; the National Rally expelled one officer who is a party volunteer, according to Le Monde.
A video dated 2025 showing municipal police officers in Carcassonne making racist and misogynistic remarks in public was published by Midi Libre, Le Monde reported. Prosecutors have opened an investigation.
According to the report, the officer making the most extreme remarks is a former member of the military who volunteered with the National Rally's security service for Jordan Bardella. The National Rally said Wednesday it had immediately expelled him from that role and excluded him from the party.
