Pakistan and Russia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening agricultural cooperation, according to Associated Press of Pakistan. Pakistan's Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, attended the Second Veterinary Security Forum, organised by Russia's Ministry of Agriculture, on Thursday.

The forum brought together officials and experts to discuss veterinary security issues, an area of cooperation that typically covers matters such as animal disease control, food safety standards, and the regulatory frameworks that govern agricultural trade between countries.

Broader bilateral ties

Pakistan and Russia have in recent years sought to expand economic cooperation across several sectors, including agriculture and energy, as both countries look to diversify their international trade partnerships. Agricultural cooperation agreements often pave the way for increased trade in goods such as grain, meat and other food products, subject to the veterinary and safety standards discussed at forums of this kind.

Tirmizi's attendance at the forum reflects continued diplomatic engagement between Islamabad and Moscow on economic issues, with agriculture representing one of several areas identified by both governments as having potential for expanded bilateral trade and technical collaboration.

No specific new agreements or initiatives were announced following the forum. The event appears to have served primarily as a platform for reaffirming existing cooperation and discussing shared priorities in veterinary and agricultural security between the two countries.
