Juliette Binoche has made her directorial debut with a documentary about her collaboration with British dancer Akram Khan on the dance-theatre piece In-I, which premiered in London in 2008 to mixed reviews. The film, In-I in Motion, captures the artistic process during months of studio work, including rehearsals with acting coach Susan Batson, according to The Guardian's review.
The documentary is structured in two parts: the first follows the creation process behind the scenes, while the second features a staged performance with set design by artist Anish Kapoor. Binoche, who had never danced professionally before the collaboration, is shown working through vulnerability and pushing outside her comfort zone alongside Khan.
