Ireland fines Google more than €400m over location data practices
The Data Protection Commission said users may not have known their location data was used for targeted ads, according to the Guardian.
Google has been fined more than €400m by Ireland's Data Protection Commission (DPC) over how it processed users' location data, the Guardian reported.
The regulator said users may have been unaware their information was used to target adverts or infer their interests, according to the report.
The fine follows complaints from multiple European consumer organizations alleging Google tracked users' movements without adequate consent, the Guardian said.
