Iran, Bangladesh Call for Stronger Ties, Economic Cooperation

Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian and Bangladesh's Prime Minister Tarique Rahman have called for deeper bilateral relations between the two countries, emphasizing expanded economic cooperation, according to Iran's Mehr News Agency.

The two leaders discussed strengthening ties across multiple sectors and agreed on the importance of convening the sixth session of the Iran-Bangladesh Joint Economic Commission, a bilateral body that periodically reviews and advances economic cooperation between Tehran and Dhaka.

Economic cooperation in focus

The Joint Economic Commission has historically served as the primary mechanism through which Iran and Bangladesh coordinate on trade, investment and other economic matters. Convening a new session would mark a continuation of that bilateral economic dialogue after previous rounds of talks between the two countries.

Neither leader's office immediately released further specifics on the scope of the expanded economic cooperation being discussed, the timeline for the sixth Joint Economic Commission session, or which sectors would be prioritized.
