French minister Amélie de Montchalin warned about the state of public debt ahead of the 2027 budget, saying every month of inaction worsens what she called the country's financial asphyxiation, according to Le Monde.
The government projects a public deficit of 5.4% in 2026, up from 5.1% in 2025, and plans an effort worth 54 billion euros next year to improve public finances, Le Monde reported.
