Fourth accuser testifies at Alan Jones indecent assault trial in Sydney
A corporate executive told a Sydney court he stayed silent after an alleged assault by the retired broadcaster, who denies all charges.
A corporate executive has become the fourth person to give evidence against retired broadcaster Alan Jones, telling a Sydney court on Tuesday that he did not react when he was allegedly groped because he did not want to cause a scene.
The executive testified that he was allegedly groped on the bottom by Jones at a Sydney event. He is the fourth alleged victim to appear before the court in the trial, which centres on 21 charges of indecent assault and sexual touching that Jones, a former talkback radio host, has pleaded not guilty to.
The court was told that one of the charges against Jones was withdrawn on Monday, a day before the executive gave his evidence.
In his testimony, the executive said that hearing about the other complainants' accounts had helped him process what had allegedly happened to him, telling the court that it helped him understand what women have been going through.
Jones spent decades as one of Australia's most prominent radio broadcasters before his retirement. He continues to deny all of the charges against him, and the trial is ongoing, with further evidence expected to be heard from other witnesses in the coming days.
The proceedings have drawn sustained media attention in Australia since charges were first laid against the veteran broadcaster.
