Firefighters have made progress toward containing the Lucas fire in northern California, state officials said Sunday, as crews worked to control a blaze that has burned more than 4,120 acres across Lake and Mendocino counties.
A Cal Fire official described Sunday as a "big turning point" in efforts to reduce the fire's spread, according to the agency.
By Monday morning, the fire was 30% contained, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection reported.
Fire officials said they are still investigating the cause of the blaze.
