Thai authorities have declared an emergency across Bangkok after days of heavy rain left large parts of the capital inundated, with roads submerged under floodwater in numerous districts.

The sustained downpour has overwhelmed the city's drainage and canal systems, causing water to spread across major thoroughfares and residential areas, disrupting movement throughout the metropolitan area.

The emergency declaration is intended to enable a faster, coordinated response from local and national authorities, allowing emergency services to prioritise resources toward the worst-affected districts.
