Driver Says TfL Kept Fining Him Over Ulez Charge He Says He Already Paid

A driver has told the Guardian that Transport for London (TfL) fined him for non-payment of the London Ultra Low Emission Zone (Ulez) charge, despite his insistence that he paid the £12.50 fee on his American Express card within hours of driving through the zone.
According to the driver, he was subsequently fined £90 for non-payment. He said his card issuer indicated that TfL had failed to collect the £12.50 payment, though he maintained the charge had been made on his behalf.
The driver said a letter from TfL threatened a £180 fine, rising to £360 if unpaid, and warned of the possible destruction of his car. He said his appeal against the penalty was rejected.
