Fuel prices have risen sharply in France, approaching levels not seen in four years, according to France 24. This increase is prompting many drivers from southern France to cross the border into Andorra to fill up.
In the Pyrenees principality, unleaded gasoline is selling for less than 1.70 euros per liter, a significantly lower price than what is charged in France, France 24 reports.
According to the same source, this price gap is explained by lighter taxation on fuel in Andorra, where the taxes applied are lower than those in effect in France.
This price difference is encouraging a growing number of drivers to make the trip to the principality to fill their tanks, France 24 says.
