A former New South Wales police officer accused of murdering two men allegedly enlisted a friend to help him fake a cancer diagnosis months before the killings, a Sydney court has heard.

Beau Lamarre-Condon, 31, is accused of fatally shooting Jesse Baird, 26, and his partner Luke Davies, 29, with a police service weapon at Baird's home in the Sydney suburb of Paddington on 19 February 2024.

According to evidence presented in court, Lamarre-Condon pressured the friend into helping him fabricate the cancer diagnosis, reportedly in an effort to explain erratic behaviour in the lead-up to the alleged killings.

Lamarre-Condon has pleaded not guilty to the murder charges.

The trial continues, with further evidence expected to be presented regarding the circumstances surrounding the alleged double murder.
