Cuba's grid remains under strain days after a nationwide collapse, with a deficit of almost 2,000 megawatts forecast for Monday's peak evening hours.
The outage is at least the sixth major nationwide power failure this year, according to Al Jazeera, following the imposition of a US energy blockade.
The restoration comes amid a severe electricity shortage linked to thermoelectric plant breakdowns and maintenance problems, Anadolu Agency reported.
The latest in a series of widespread outages has hit the island, which officials link to fuel shortages worsened by the long-standing US embargo.
The island’s power grid operator said recovery protocols were activated after a total system disconnection left the country without electricity.
