Zinedine Zidane has said Türkiye are a "very good team" capable of causing problems for France, ahead of Friday's UEFA Nations League opener in Kocaeli.

The match marks Zidane's first fixture in charge of the French national team, placing him immediately against a Turkish side he described as a difficult opponent.

Zidane's comments, reported by Anadolu Agency, suggest a note of caution as he begins his tenure with France, rather than any assumption of an easy start against Türkiye on home soil.

Kocaeli, on Türkiye's northwestern coast, will host the fixture as both nations open their UEFA Nations League campaigns. Neither side's full squad details nor a kickoff time were disclosed in the available reporting.

Zidane, one of France's most decorated former players, takes charge of the national team with expectations shaped by his previous managerial success at club level. His first assessment of an opponent, delivered publicly before a ball is kicked, will be tested when the two sides meet on the pitch.
