WHO to Halt Diesel Supplies to Over 20 Gaza Health Facilities

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced it will stop supplying diesel to more than 20 hospitals and health centers in Gaza from September 19, citing a shortfall in funding, according to a report by Mehr News.

The health agency did not immediately provide additional details on the scale of the funding gap or the specific facilities that would be affected, according to the report.

Diesel fuel is used to run generators that power essential hospital operations, including intensive care units, incubators, and other life-saving equipment, in areas where the electricity grid has been disrupted.

Gaza's health system has faced repeated disruptions to fuel and medical supplies amid the ongoing conflict, with international organizations previously warning that shortages could endanger patients dependent on electrically powered medical equipment.
