Journalists turned away despite court order
Lawyers representing CNN, MS NOW and Politico — the outlets banned by the Trump administration — requested an emergency hearing after several of their journalists were turned away from the White House on Thursday morning, in apparent defiance of a federal judge's order to restore their access.
According to a court filing, journalists from each of the three outlets attempted to enter the White House and were turned away, with Secret Service agents confiscating hard passes that had not previously been confiscated.
The report noted that Trump himself complained about a lack of television coverage of the Xi meeting, coverage that was affected by the ongoing access dispute stemming from his own administration's actions.
