Water and sanitation utility disposes of over 4,000 tonnes of waste in Dera Ismail Khan

The Water and Sanitation Services Company (WSSC) in Dera Ismail Khan disposed of 4,297 tonnes of solid waste during its latest monthly sanitation operations, achieving what officials described as an 84% waste collection efficiency rate.

According to the company's monthly performance report, the figures reflect ongoing efforts to expand sanitation coverage and improve cleanliness across the city, alongside the utility's core waste collection and disposal responsibilities.

WSSC officials said the operations formed part of the utility's regular monthly activities, with the reported collection efficiency indicating the proportion of generated waste that was successfully gathered and disposed of during the period.

Municipal solid waste management remains a significant operational challenge for utilities across Pakistan, with efficiency rates often affected by factors such as population density, available equipment and funding for collection infrastructure.

The company said its sanitation activities during the reporting period also included efforts to expand service coverage to additional areas of the city, beyond routine waste collection.
