Viral Altadena bear returns, again found under a Los Angeles-area home

A black bear that became a local celebrity after taking up residence under an Altadena home in November 2025 has resurfaced in the Los Angeles area, according to the Guardian. The bear, tagged "Yellow 2120" and weighing around 550 pounds, was spotted this week in the crawlspace of a home on Minoru Drive.

The bear has reportedly been driven out of several other neighborhood crawlspaces since first drawing attention, but continues to return to the area, cementing its reputation among local residents as a persistent, if unwelcome, visitor.

A recurring neighborhood visitor

Bears seeking shelter in residential crawlspaces are not unheard of in areas bordering wildlife habitat, particularly as urban development continues to press into spaces bears might otherwise use for denning. Yellow 2120's repeated appearances have made it a familiar, if disruptive, presence for residents in the area.

The Guardian's report did not specify what wildlife authorities plan to do about the bear's continued visits, nor did it detail the extent of any property damage caused by its stays beneath various homes.

Local residents have had to contend with the bear moving in and out of crawlspaces on a recurring basis, a pattern that has persisted since it first gained attention roughly a year ago.
