The Venice Film Festival honored director May el-Toukhy's film "Woman Unknown," about a woman's fate in Denmark shortly after World War II, and the documentary "Naza" on Gaza, France 24's French service reported.
The jury, led by Maggie Gyllenhaal, made its selections amid criticism over the low number of women directors in competition, according to the report. "Naza," directed by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, who previously co-authored the Oscar-winning film "No Other Land" (2024), won the festival's special jury prize.
