Danish actor Mathilde Arcel, who won the Volpi Cup for best actress at this year's Venice film festival, has said she was registered as unemployed and had to travel back to Copenhagen to report to a job centre just days before receiving the award, according to the Guardian.
Arcel won the prize on Saturday for her first leading role in a feature film, playing a part in May el-Toukhy's post-second world war drama "Woman Unknown," which also won the festival's top prize, the Golden Lion, for best film, the Guardian reported.
According to the Guardian, Arcel revealed that she had been receiving unemployment benefits at the time and was required to check in with authorities in Denmark before travelling to Venice for the festival.
The Guardian reported that Arcel said job offers have since begun to arrive following her Volpi Cup win.
