US House Democrats Urge Trump Administration to Pursue AI Diplomacy With China
Lawmakers say Washington and Beijing, despite deep disagreements, face shared risks from artificial intelligence that require dialogue
A group of Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives has called on the Trump administration to engage in diplomatic talks with China over artificial intelligence, according to a report by Anadolu Agency.
In a letter cited by the news agency, the lawmakers argued that despite significant political and strategic disagreements between the United States and China, both nations face comparable risks from the rapid development of AI technology.
"Though there is much we disagree on, our nations are also vulnerable to the same AI risks," the lawmakers said in the letter, according to Anadolu Agency.
The report did not specify further details of the letter's contents, including the number of signatories or the specific policy recommendations put forward to the administration.
Anadolu Agency did not report an immediate response from the Trump administration to the lawmakers' appeal.
