A coalition of unions, thinktanks, environmental groups and charities has called on UK ministers to strengthen the financial capacity of the National Wealth Fund, according to the Guardian.

Organizations including the TUC, Greenpeace, WWF and the New Economics Foundation said scaling up the fund could help lower energy bills, revitalize industrial regions and create more high-quality jobs, the newspaper reported.

Proposals cited included accelerating home retrofits, taking public stakes in infrastructure projects, and supporting regional banks that finance small businesses.
