Ukraine's grid operator says no power outages expected Friday

Ukraine's national power grid operator, Ukrenergo, has said it does not expect to impose any restrictions on electricity consumption on Friday, September 25.

The announcement means households and businesses across Ukraine are not expected to face scheduled power outages on that day, according to the grid operator. Ukrenergo has regularly issued outage schedules and updates throughout the ongoing conflict, as Ukraine's energy infrastructure has periodically come under strain.

Ukraine's electricity system has faced repeated pressure in recent years, with the grid operator at times introducing rolling blackouts to balance supply and demand, particularly during periods of high demand or following damage to energy infrastructure. Forecasts of no restrictions, such as the one issued for Friday, are typically welcomed by consumers as a sign of relative stability in the system on a given day.

Ukrenergo has said it continues to monitor the condition of the grid and adjusts its outage schedules based on real-time assessments of generation capacity and demand. The operator has not indicated any specific concerns for the days following Friday.

Officials have previously urged consumers to continue using electricity carefully even when no restrictions are in place, citing the ongoing vulnerability of parts of the country's energy infrastructure.
