The UK's biggest education union, the National Education Union (NEU), said the government has agreed to fully fund a forthcoming pay increase for teachers in England, reversing previous policy that would have required schools to partly cover the costs from their own budgets. The move comes after union pressure and ahead of a planned strike ballot by NEU members.
The pay deal includes a 3.5% increase effective this month and an additional 3% from next September, according to the union's statement.
