UK flight cancellations top 2,000 as air traffic boss faces one-week deadline
More than 1,900 flights had been cancelled by early Wednesday due to a UK air traffic control technical failure, while oil and gas prices also rose, according to the Guardian.
More than 1,900 flights had been cancelled by 5 a.m. Wednesday, according to aviation analytics company Cirium, following a system issue at National Air Traffic Services, the Guardian reported. Downing Street said the head of Nats has one week to deliver an investigation into the glitch, which the organization said had been resolved even as disruption continued.
The Guardian also reported that oil prices rose above $100 a barrel for the first time since July as the Iran war escalated, with gas prices also increasing.
