Uefa's Ceferin Says 'The Emperor Is Naked' in Fresh Attack on Fifa's Infantino

Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin has launched a pointed attack on his Fifa counterpart Gianni Infantino, condemning the failed Fifa Forward Enterprise (FFE) project and other recent controversies in a speech to the European Football Clubs (EFC) general assembly.

Ceferin told club chiefs it was time to say enough regarding Fifa's conduct, declaring that the emperor is naked in remarks that, while not naming Infantino directly, left little doubt about who he was addressing.

Speaking in Copenhagen, Ceferin drew on the setting to invoke Hans Christian Andersen's classic tale The Emperor's New Clothes as a metaphor for his assessment of Infantino's leadership, according to reports of the address.

The Uefa president's remarks referenced the failed FFE scheme, as well as other recent controversies including the Folarin Balogun affair from last summer, and touched on the peace prize awarded to Donald Trump, weaving together several threads of criticism aimed at Fifa's recent conduct.
