UEFA and CONCACAF, two of football's regional governing confederations, have urged FIFA President Gianni Infantino to release approximately $2.1 billion from the organization's financial reserves, according to a report published by France 24.

The confederations are calling for each of FIFA's 211 member associations to receive $10 million over the 2027-30 funding cycle, the report said.

The demand comes amid tensions between Infantino and European football officials over a proposed plan to sell a stake in the World Cup to private investors, according to France 24. That proposal was reportedly shelved after facing backlash from European football stakeholders.

France 24 did not detail FIFA's response to the funding request, nor provide further specifics on the confederations' rationale for the requested payout amount or how the funds would be allocated among member associations.

The dispute highlights ongoing friction within FIFA's governance structure over control of the organization's finances and major revenue-generating initiatives tied to the World Cup, the report indicated.
