Two leading experts have withdrawn from Lucy Letby's defence team citing concerns about the "scientific credibility" of some arguments used to challenge her convictions, saying certain evidence is inconsistent with available science and established physiology.
A public inquiry led by Lady Justice Kathryn Thirlwall is set to publish findings on Tuesday, expected to identify missed opportunities for hospital bosses to intervene after doctors flagged unexplained deaths on the neonatal unit in 2015 and 2016. A separate criminal investigation is ongoing into potential corporate manslaughter and gross negligence at the Countess of Chester hospital.
