Trump Administration Removes 760,000 People From ACA Marketplace Over Fraud Allegations

The Trump administration is removing 760,000 people enrolled in the Affordable Care Act marketplace over allegations of fraud, officials said at a press conference on Tuesday.
The move adds to previous efforts by the administration to reduce federally subsidized insurance programs, with experts cited in reporting saying the change is likely to cause some of the lowest-income Americans to forgo healthcare coverage.
Officials also said the government is investigating approximately 420,000 additional people it suspects of fraud in connection with ACA marketplace enrollment.
Alongside the removals and investigation, the administration is imposing a six-month moratorium on new agents and brokers selling Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, policies, officials said.
The combined measures represent a significant tightening of enrollment oversight for the ACA marketplace, with critics warning of the potential impact on access to coverage for lower-income Americans.
