Thousands Protest First Orange Order March Through Catholic Area in Nearly 30 Years

Tensions have risen in Northern Ireland after the High Court in Belfast approved a controversial parade allowing an Orange Order march through a predominantly Catholic area for the first time in nearly 30 years.

Around 2,000 protesters blocked the route into the Catholic area where the Protestant march was due to pass, reflecting the depth of opposition to the parade among local residents.
