Tesco alerts police after image used in fake casino endorsement ads
The supermarket becomes the latest major brand targeted in a coordinated scam using hijacked images on Facebook and Instagram.
Tesco has alerted City of London police after its image was used without permission in advertisements for unlicensed casinos on social media platforms, according to The Guardian. The supermarket joins other major brands and sports figures including Barclays bank, Lewis Hamilton, Jude Bellingham, and Erling Haaland in having their identities exploited in the scheme.
The scam appears designed to help casinos operating illegally in Britain gain credibility by associating with recognisable names and faces. Multiple household-name businesses have reportedly been targeted in what authorities are investigating as a coordinated effort.
