Susan Calman has launched "Tall Tales," her first new standup set in 10 years, at Perth Concert Hall. The tour, running until November 20, showcases material on her familiar comedy subjects—cats, her height, and menopause—alongside new, more personal reflections on recent bereavement and mental health struggles.
According to The Guardian's review, Calman describes standup as "the thing she feared the most" and returned to the stage to help lift herself out of depression. The show presents her trademark faux-gruff but affable persona while exploring what she describes as her flaws, including catastrophising and her experiences navigating life as a short, lesbian, middle-aged woman in television.
