South Park Rebrands as 'South America' in Satirical Jab at Trump Naming Requests

The animated satirical series South Park has announced it will be renamed "South America" for its 29th season, according to a statement from creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker cited by The Guardian.
"Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA," the creators said in the statement, referencing the tech companies' decisions to rename Lake Ontario to "Lake America" following requests from President Donald Trump.
The statement also thanked the show's parent company, Paramount, which the creators referred to as "a Skydance Capitulation."
According to the report, Trump has sought to rename various geographic features, including a gulf, lakes and states, incorporating references to "America."
Paramount Skydance, the show's parent company owned by Trump ally David Ellison, is set to become one of the largest media conglomerates in the United States after the Trump administration approved its $111 billion merger with Warner Bros Discovery, a deal that has drawn criticism from within the creative industry, the report noted.
The 29th season of the newly named "South America" is scheduled to premiere on September 16 and will stream globally on Paramount+, according to the source.
