The Seattle Times and Newsday have filed lawsuits against OpenAI and Microsoft, according to a report by TechCrunch, alleging that the companies used their journalism without authorization to train artificial intelligence models.

The two publications are the latest in a series of news organizations to bring legal action against the AI companies over similar claims, TechCrunch reported.

Details of the specific allegations, the court in which the suits were filed, and the remedies sought were not immediately available. OpenAI and Microsoft have not yet issued public statements in response to the new lawsuits.

The filings add to a broader wave of litigation from media organizations concerned about the use of copyrighted journalism in training large language models, a legal battleground that has drawn in multiple publishers over the past several years.
