Scottish Labour's new leader backs North Sea oil and gas development
Michael Marra, elected Saturday as Scottish Labour's 11th leader, supports the Rosebank and Jackdaw oil and gasfields in his first major policy position.
Marra, the MSP for North East Scotland, won a near two-thirds majority in Saturday's leadership election. He called for a "more rational" approach to energy policy while backing development of the two North Sea sites.
Marra replaces Anas Sarwar, who resigned in July to join Andy Burnham's government as a trade minister.
