Samsung Wallet now unlocks select GM vehicles

Samsung Wallet now supports digital key access for select General Motors vehicles, allowing users of some Samsung devices in the United States and Canada to lock, unlock and start certain cars without a physical key.

Support will begin with select 2026 and 2027 Cadillac electric vehicles, including the 2025-2027 Lyriq, the 2026-2027 Optiq, and the 2027 Vistiq. GM has said additional models will gain support for the feature over time, suggesting a broader rollout across its vehicle lineup is planned.

Digital car keys stored in smartphone wallet apps have become increasingly common, allowing drivers to use their phones in place of traditional key fobs. The technology typically relies on near-field communication or ultra-wideband connections between the phone and the vehicle to authenticate access securely.

The partnership extends Samsung Wallet's digital key capabilities, which already support keys for some other automakers, into GM's electric vehicle lineup. For GM, the feature adds another layer of convenience aimed at Cadillac EV buyers who use Samsung devices.
