Samantha Morton, known for her acting and directing work, joined a Guardian Live 'Honest Playlist' event at Green Man Festival in August to discuss her relationship with music. Morton, who appears in the film The Odyssey and released her solo album Daffodils & Dirt in 2024, performed later that day with Everything Is Recorded, a supergroup led by XL Recordings boss Richard Russell.
During the conversation, Morton shared her 'Honest Playlist' featuring songs meaningful to her, ranging from Musical Youth's 'Pass The Dutchie' to Art of Noise's 'Moments In Love.' She described music's importance in her creative process, noting she creates playlists to prepare for acting roles and historically carried tapes to avoid exposure to music she disliked.
