Senegal's Prime Minister Ahmadou Al Aminou Lô delivered his general policy statement before Parliament on Tuesday, according to France 24. The address took place before a National Assembly largely aligned with the Pastef party, led by Ousmane Sonko, Mr. Lô's predecessor as head of government.

According to France 24's correspondent in Dakar, Élimane Ndao, the government chief devoted a significant portion of his speech to public debt management, presenting it as a priority of his administration. Mr. Lô referenced an agreement reached with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), intended to enable Senegal's economic recovery.

The Prime Minister cautioned, however, that this recovery would come with sacrifices for the population. According to details reported by France 24, structural adjustment measures were also mentioned during the statement to lawmakers.

This intervention comes as Senegal seeks to stabilize its public finances in discussions with international financial institutions. The precise terms of the IMF agreement, as well as the timeline for the announced measures, have not been detailed in the available information at this stage.
