Sébastien Lecornu Tightens 2027 Budget and Pressures Political Forces
The prime minister is asking his government to maintain state spending in 2027 at the same level as 2026, while reminding lawmakers of the urgency of adopting the finance bill, particularly in response to the Lyhanna affair.
According to information reported by Le Monde, Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu has asked his government to make an additional effort on public spending in preparing the 2027 budget. He wants these expenditures to be maintained "strictly at the same level" as those planned for 2026.
This requirement comes in a tight budgetary context, as the executive seeks to control the trajectory of France's public finances in the coming years.
According to the newspaper, Sébastien Lecornu also sent a message to lawmakers, reminding them that the response to the Lyhanna affair, in his view, hinged on the adoption of the finance bill. This framing is apparently intended to increase pressure on political forces so they can reach an agreement on the budget text.
