Russian Special Envoy to Visit China and Qatar

Russian special presidential envoy Boris Titov is set to visit China from October 12 to 15, with a subsequent trip to Qatar planned for late October, according to Russian state news agency TASS.

Titov, who has served in various trade and business-focused envoy roles for the Russian government, has been involved in promoting economic and investment ties between Russia and countries willing to maintain or expand commercial relationships despite Western sanctions imposed over the war in Ukraine.

The visits to China and Qatar reflect Moscow's continued efforts to deepen economic cooperation with non-Western partners as it seeks alternative markets, investment and trade relationships following the loss of much of its access to European and American markets. China has emerged as one of Russia's most significant economic partners since 2022, with bilateral trade expanding substantially.

Qatar, a major global exporter of liquefied natural gas, has maintained diplomatic and economic relations with Russia despite broader Western pressure on countries to reduce ties with Moscow. The specific agenda for Titov's meetings in either country was not detailed in the TASS report.
