Russian Embassy in Ireland says Moscow ready to use nuclear weapons to defend Kaliningrad

The Russian Embassy in Ireland said Moscow is prepared to use nuclear weapons to defend the Kaliningrad exclave if necessary, according to TASS.

In a statement, the embassy accused what it called the "irresponsible and shortsighted" European political elite of playing a "dangerous game" amid escalating tensions between Russia and European governments.

Kaliningrad, a Russian exclave situated between Poland and Lithuania on the Baltic Sea, has repeatedly been a flashpoint in tensions between Moscow and NATO members, given its strategic location and Russia's military presence there.

The embassy's statement did not specify a particular incident or immediate threat prompting the warning, framing it instead as a broader message directed at European policymakers.
